The Midterm Report: Sarah Palin vs. Santa, Dr. Oz vs. Wall Street, and MTG vs. the 14th Amendment

With primary season on the horizon, the road to the 2022 U.S. midterms is beginning to take shape.
If the country’s recent elections are any indicator, the next six months are likely to produce an unpredictable fight for Congress.
Just look at Santa Claus vs. Sarah Palin.
That’s right. Palin, the former running mate for John McCain and reality television star, is running against a self-proclaimed socialist Santa Claus in a stacked Alaska primary. The first under the state’s new voting system, more than 45 candidates will see their names on the ballot in the Aug. 16 primary, with the top four vote-getters advancing to the general election in November.
Naturally, the same producer who developed Sarah Palin’s Alaska, Mark Burnett, is also the man responsible for revitalizing Donald Trump’s image on NBC’s The Apprentice.
Trump’s hold over the GOP remains strong, but will his primary picks succeed?
In Pennsylvania, former talk show host Dr. Mehmet Oz continues his campaign with an endorsement from the former president. Perhaps Oz was playing the long game when he hosted then-candidate Trump on his daytime program in Oct. 2016 to share his “health report.”
Oz, whose net worth was recently revealed to be more than $100 million, puts the doctor in a position to become possibly the wealthiest U.S. Senator.
But the Pennsylvania primary won’t be an easy feat for Oz, even with endorsements from the likes of Rudy Giuliani and Fox News’ Sean Hannity. He’s facing stiff competition from a former hedge fund CEO, David McCormick, who once turned down an offer from Trump to be his U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense.
Not only has McCormick received endorsements from high-profile Republicans including Larry Kudlow, Robert Lighthizer, and Mike Pompeo, but Bloomberg reported this week that “more than 60 executives at [Goldman Sachs Group Inc.] have given the maximum allowed” to support his campaign. Did I mention he’s married to Goldman partner Dina Powell?
